Behind the Scenes

Have you ever heard the phrase, "being in the zone"? This phrase is usually applicable for individuals performing or working on a public stage...athletes, debaters, writers, brokers, speakers, entertainers...etc. But what phrase should be used for the average "Joe" that is also performing a job function behind the scenes? Why don't we see more descriptor accolades given to an administrator who has knocked a writing of a presentation out of the park, construction workers who have completed an architectural phenomenon in record time, or a cleaning/maintenance company that continues to keep our national monuments clean day after day! What about the mindset of the staff that supports the society's most well known individuals such as producers, camera men, scriptwriters, and consultants? Yes, these individuals are just as important and are still recognized, but on a smaller forum and usually privately.

What drives an individual to be successful in the public eye? What motivates and drives this person to execute above average? What is needed to block out distractions when needing to meet a deadline, complete a job, or win a game? These are all motivating questions for the individuals on the public stage! However, is the mindset any different for that individual in the public forum verses behind the scenes...NO! But for me, I refer to "being in the zone" to being in harmony.

Being in harmony with my daily job of planning events is to be in tune with God. Harmony, a term used to describe the sound of various sounds blending to make one noise, can also be used for various people and circumstances coming together for one outcome. To understand this concept is to believe that there is a God and that HE is in full control of all events happening in the planning of a production. God is ultimately the orchestrator of everything I do, so when a daily task as simple as putting a load-in schedule together, I rely on God to provide me with the mindset of everything that needs to go on that schedule. When a curve ball or unexpected crisis happens, it does not mean it's not in harmony, it means that I must trust God that this plan is in harmony with the outcome of the event. So for me to be in harmony with God for what is happening behind the scenes directly impacts the outcome of what happens on stage.

Harmony only comes when I am humble to the fact that I am behind the scenes, not get caught up in negativity, and understanding that my wisdom comes from experience and God. Harmony is when all past and future events are in alignment, whether good or bad. Harmonious Events was developed on the premise that God is the owner of Harmonious and I am managing the Events behind the scenes.
